Welcome

MATE Productions is a community arts organisation based in Knowsley, Merseyside – you can find us at Cockpit House, 34 Church Street, Prescot, L34 3LA. MATE Productions was originally established as Merseyside Arts Theatre and Education in March 2000 and is led by Artistic Director Gaynor La Rocca and a team of professional practitioners.  The company is leading the community engagement programme for the Shakespeare North Trust who are building a commemorative Shakespearian theatre in the heart of Prescot’s historic town centre – www.shakespearenorth.org

MATE uses the mediums of theatre, storytelling, music, dance and media to engage with communities and young people across Merseyside and has a reputation for large-scale community engagement, spectacular site-specific and outdoor work (see our partnerships page) and for staging high quality productions in a wide range of genres.

MATE creates exciting performance work for theatre spaces, arts and cultural venues, woodlands and parks, canals and docklands, museums, libraries and great halls, nursing homes, pubs and social clubs, schools and other community venues, and regularly stages shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
